We’ve been seeing the result of Microsoft’s FFXIII payoff today. After waiting an entire YEAR for the latest Square Enix Final Fantasy game to be coded for the 360 we have been barraged by a series of screen shot comparisons from various websites.
Unfortunately, most of these sites are using DOCTORED images! We here at GameGamePOW.com have taken a couple of screen shots of our own to show you what the actual differences between the two versions are (besides 2 discs and a half-assed bundle).
CLARITY ISSUES:
One of the most obvious things we noticed was the terrible “pixelated” look of the 360 version. There is a significant drop in resolution as shown above. We saw little to no texture definition, and very little in the way of dynamic lighting on the 360 side. This comes as a disappointment to 360 owners everywhere as they watch Microsoft sponsored commercials for the Final Fantasy XIII bundle that pretends the game doesn’t exist on any other platform. I suppose if you are selling the inferior product, it might be a good idea to purposely misinform the public into purchasing the drivel you are selling.
CHARACTER RENDERING:
The character models are noticeably different in the 360 version. Instead of the JRPG EMO-Gangsta characters we are used to getting from a Square Enix title, we are left with what almost looks like a ginger-haired Jersey Shore-Mutant version. The terrible a fore-mentioned texture issues really give away the poor rendering on the 360 versions face. We are dubbing this issue the “Freckled McLipgloss” effect.
We could do this all day really. The point here is that Microsoft has yet again thrown money at a problem they can’t/won’t fix. Now there are many poor gamers who decided to stick to their 360 preorder that are dealing with the clearly lesser version of what was supposed to be a great game on their system of choice.
